Our Walks Calendar this Month
These walks are designed for members; however, we always welcome new members and if you wish to try out one or two of these walks before joining please contact the leader (click on their name to send an email) additional details such as train times and Map References are included in the group's programme of walks. CANARY WHARF TO GREENWICH – 5 miles
Planned to coincide with the London Film Festival the walk will take in sites around Canary Wharf, the Isle of Dogs and Greenwich which have featured in major films.

LOUGHTON TO EPPING – 7 miles
An autumn ramble through Epping Forest , Moderate pace.

GREENWICH TO CRYSTAL PALACE – 10 miles
A walk at a moderate pace following the Green London Way through parks in Lewisham, Ladywell, Honor Oak and Dulwich Woods, with some road walking. Drop out point at Horniman’s Museum after 6½ miles. CafÄ—/picnic lunch at Horniman’s Museum.

KNIGHTSBRIDGE TO CAMDEN TOWN – 10 miles
First stage of the Syd Barrett Walk [London to Cambridge] a tribute to the late Pink Floyd frontman. The story goes that he left London and walked to Cambridge and so will we…. Moderate pace via Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Notting Hill, Portobello Road and the Grand Union Canal.
Plenty of lunch possibilities and probably stopping for refreshment on the Portobello Road.

BLACKHEATH TO GREENWICH – 3 miles

SHOREHAM AND OTFORD CIRCULAR – 6½ miles
A pleasant, easy-paced walk through Shoreham, then up into Meenfield and Pilot Woods, descending into Otford for a picnic or pub lunch. After viewing the palace remains, we return along the Darent valley to Shoreham.

DORKING CIRCULAR – 10 miles
Moderate-to-fast pace walk. We walk west through vineyards, with one gentle climb, then continue along the wooded slopes of the North Downs before descending to the Wotton Hatch pub on the A25 for lunch. Return to Dorking from the south.

PECKHAM RYE TO DULWICH – 7½ miles
Moderate walk through South Bank’s own parkland and open spaces. From Peckham Rye, through the historic Nunhead Cemetery, via One Tree Hill to Horniman Gardens, where we shall have a café or picnic lunch. Then via Dulwich Woods, to Belair and Dulwich Park. (Return from either North or West Dulwich Station)

LEATHERHEAD TO DORKING – 17 miles
A fast-paced appreciation of the North Downs and Mole Valley. witha 5-minute break every hour. Drop out possible at lunchtime after 10 miles (make your own way from Box Hill to Box Hill and Westhumble Station). Picnic lunch 45 minutes; tea stop daylight permitting. Riverside paths, woodland tracks, North Downs, ancient woodlands, views over the Weald.

KENNINGTON CIRCULAR – 6 miles
Moderately paced city walk with no hills visiting Kennington Park, Burgess Park and following the route of the Grand Surrey Canal. Pub/café lunch at the Kentish Drover or Pulse Café, Peckham, or bring a picnic.

KENLEY TO NEW ADDINGTON – 8 miles
Walk through Riddlesdown, Hamsey Green and Farleigh at a moderate pace over undulating terrain; some steepish ascents. Pub lunch at the White Bear, Fickleshole.

ROTHERHITHE CIRCULAR – 4 miles

WIMBLEDON COMMON – 6¼ miles
At an easy pace, we explore the open spaces of Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath. Can be muddy in winter!

CHIPSTEAD TO TATTENHAM CORNER – 12 miles
Linear walk with early elevenses at Fanny’s Farm and pub lunch (or picnic) at the Sportsman, Mogador.

SOUTH ISLINGTON CIRCULAR – 2 miles
An evening walk in Islington during which our esteemed leader will talk about the radical heritage of South Islington and, in particular, explain the dominant political forces of the late 20th century. Soviet Communism and the American conception of freedom were invented in Islington pubs, and necessarily we will have to visit some of them.

WIMBLEDON PARK TO CRYSTAL PALACE – 10 miles
First stage of 7 walks following the Capital Ring around London.
A moderately paced walk, with some road walking, crossing the commons in Wandsworth, Tooting Bec and Streatham, where we’ll stop for a picnic or café lunch. Then we’ll walk on to Crystal Palace via Norwood Grove and Biggin Wood.

HAMPSTEAD HEATH AND HIGHGATE CIRCULAR – 6 miles
