South Bank Ramblers

Wed 12 AUG 2026 - MANNINGTREE CIRCULAR - Richard H
A walk through Constable Country and along the Vale of Dedham on the Essex / Suffolk boundary. Our circular walk from Manningtree Station takes us along the St Edmund Way to the pretty hamlet of Flatford. We will stop (30 mins) at Flatford Mill (National Trust Exhibition Centre) from where John Constable painted local landscapes. We follow the Stour Valley Path onto the northern ridge of the Vale of Dedham and down to Dedham village famously known as the heart of Constable country. We then walk along the Essex Way onto the southern ridge of the Vale of Dedham returning to Manningtree Station.
