South Bank Ramblers

Saturday, 15 October 2022 - OXFORD CANAL, PORT MEADOW & RIVER THAMES  - 6 miles - Leader: Kleo Z

From the station we cross Osney Bridge to join the Thames Path and walk alongside the River Thames until we reach Folly Bridge for the Castle Mill Stream. We then follow the stream through the centre of Oxford, passing the Castle. Joining the canal towpath, we follow the canal until we reach Lower Wolvercote before entering the legendary Oxford Port Meadow. We cross the Meadow before heading back. The walk is easy going, with no difficult terrain. Some parts will be muddy after prolonged or heavy rain in the Meadow. It involves crossing several roads, some of them quite busy in Central Oxford.
Lunch: Pub lunch or picnic near Lower Wolvercote
